Industrial Case Study - Fire Brigade

The London Fire and Emergency Planning Department appointed Gee Construction to modernise Croydon Fire Station within a 24 week timeframe, 5 weeks ahead of the original deadline.  This was delivered in line with the London Fire Brigade’s carbon footprint reduction policy.  The Fire Station remained operational throughout the project.

The works consisted of the removal of all external windows, and replacing them with new solar reflective double glazed units, and new curtain walling systems with ‘TRESPA’ panel inserts. The existing heating system was removed in its entirety, and replaced with new ‘Biomass’ wood burning boilers with an energy efficient gas condensing boiler back up.

All the internal office space was refurbished and upgraded to category A fit-out standards, including new ceilings, partition walls and floor finishes.

The project was awarded a CIBSE Low Carbon Award.
